OUR TEAM IS MADE UP OF VETERANS WHO ARE PROVEN AND DEDICATED OUTDOORSMEN. INDIVIDUALS WITH HEART AND PASSION FOR THE HUNT WITH A DEDICATION TO THE STEWARDSHIP AND CONSERVATION OF THE LAND AND WILDLIFE. OUR TEAM ALSO CONSISTS OF A FEW CIVILIANS, ALL OF WHICH SHARE A PASSION FOR THE OUTDOORS BUT ALSO SERVE AS AMBASSADORS FOR OUR ORGANIZATION, THE VETERANS WE WORK WITH AND OUR SPONSORS.
FOUNDERS STORY
Unlike many outdoorsman, I did not have a father who showed me the ways of the outdoors. It was through the mentors I had growing up later in life in my late adolescent years who instilled this passion. In particular I give credit to CW3 William James, as a young man in his teens, he taught me to be a rifleman, an archer, how to throw a tomahawk and skillfully harvest an animal but understand that I meant we eat what we kill and thank our Creator for the harvest. It was Chief James who guided, influenced and inspired me to join the US Army. Like my mentor, I too served in the Army in aviation and deployed during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom serving in Balad, Iraq and Baghdad, Iraq from 2006 - 2008.
Later in life, I found myself still under the influence of the old chief with a passion for reconnecting with myself in the great outdoors. Although now more "seasoned" (OLDER) with more life under my belt, I get to share this same passion with my son and pass on to him that which so preciously was passed down to me. In 2023, I had the made the decision to share the healing the outdoors has offered me with my fellow veterans inviting them on hunts and fishing trips across Texas. Truth be told, it's not just healing for them, it's healing for me too. The TXVet Outfitters story isn't just my story, it's the story of CW3 William "Bill" James a Vietnam helicopter pilot who shared his love for guns and the outdoors with me. It's my story an Iraq war veteran who has shared this with his son. It's the story of every veteran that has gone on a hunt with us and shared their passion with the outfitters and crews we have been blessed to work with. It's the story of Texas Veterans, using Texas land to finding Healing on the Hunt.
